Why I Flipped Two Legendary Hip-Hop Records Into a Tech House Track

Music has always been about moments for me — those records that instantly take you somewhere the second you hear them. “I Got 5 On It” by Luniz was one of those tracks growing up. That melody is timeless. Years later when Kodak Black dropped “No Flockin,” it had that same kind of impact — raw, unmistakable, and instantly recognizable.
One night in the studio I started experimenting with the melody from the Luniz record and realized how powerful it could feel over a Tech House groove. From there it became an idea I couldn’t ignore. I separated the elements, built a completely new beat from scratch, and started shaping something that blended two generations of hip-hop into a modern club record.
The goal wasn’t never just to mash two songs together — it was to rebuild the vibe into something DJs could actually play in a set. Something familiar, but flipped into a completely different environment.
That’s how “Project Baby (Flipped Edit)” came to life.
Running at 128 BPM in B♭ Minor, the track takes the iconic melody from “I Got 5 On It” and the unmistakable vocal from “No Flockin,” and drives them forward with a brand new Tech House groove. Punchy drums, rolling basslines, and hypnotic percussion bring that nostalgia into a modern dancefloor setting.
“Project Baby (Flipped Edit)” will officially drop on March 31, 2026. For me, this track really represents where my sound comes from — house music at its core, but always influenced by the hip-hop records that shaped me early on.
